Greetings Cards to help the young Tsunami victims in Sri Lanka

In the popular holiday destination of Unawatuna the Tsunami destroyed a government school for 250 children. As a result local children no longer have a safe place where they can meet for activities. The government has not allotted land for rebuilding a new school yet the children need a central meeting place that will allow them to take part in community-based educational activities in a safe environment.

The local community organisation UTDS is working to build a community centre where the children can meet for additional classes and extra-curricular activities that will enrich their livelihoods and improve their opportunities in later life. The centre will also enable the children to partake in activities to help them face and overcome the tremendous losses they suffered because of the Tsunami. Ultimately the community centre will be a place for learning, playing and healing.

YOU CAN HELP!! The money made from sales of these beautiful cards of pictures done
by the children will be put back into the building and running of this community centre.

I am from Manchester and after being on holiday in Unawatuna when the Tsunami struck I have returned to Sri Lanka to repay some of the kindness I was shown during a very difficult and terrifying time. I am working with UTDS on this project and can personally vouch for the amazing work they are doing. I am working with the children to help them overcome post traumatic stress through using play and creativity. The children are still living in appalling conditions in cramped and unsanitary tents. What the children need now is a safe place to come to and the community centre will enrich all their lives and provide them with new opportunities. Please, have them in your thoughts and contact us to receive these cards to sell with your pupils.
